Looking for a Licensed Optometrist 

 

Mitri Optometry specializes in providing full-service eyecare solutions to customers throughout the GTA. Currently, Mitri Optometry has two locations, Scarborough, and Richmond Hill. This role is 100% in person, located right next to Scarborough Town Centre, very accessible by highway and transit. This is an opportunity for a fully licensed optometrist to grow their career, working for one of the organized and highly skilled Optometrists in Ontario. Dr. Mitri values customer service and integrity in each customer interaction. The position has flexible days per week.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform standard eye exams for patients

  • Record all tests, prescriptions, and treatments in the patient’s chart

  • Provide prescriptions for corrective lenses as needed

  • Conduct Contact lens fitting appointments

  • Listen to and address patients questions and concerns

  • Prescribe medications when needed

  • Utilize all necessary equipment properly, ensuring it is in good working order

  • Check for evidence of disease, injury, or other problems impacting vision

  • Able to use technology, using computers and software platforms

 

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) required from an accredited institution

  • Current optometry license in good standing

  • Understanding of glasses, lenses and overall knowledge of industry

  • Quick learner, ability to adapt quickly

This is an opportunity for a fully licensed optician to start and grow their career, working for one of the organized and highly skilled Optometrists in Ontario. Summary
The Licensed Optician will book eye exams, provide glasses consultations, be responsible for dispensing g
lasses, contact lenses. In addition, the Licensed optician will support in both the intake and outtake of customers and support the optometrist as required. Experience is an asset however training will be provided. 
 

Role Responsibilities

  • Connect with customers, provide them with relevant information and ensure they have a thorough

  • experience, from their appointment to selecting glasses

  • Helps customers in finding custom glasses

  • Takes measurements, fits and adjusts glasses, meeting optician and optometry metrics

  • Explores the needs & priorities of customers by asking open ended questions.

  • Able to utilize Excel, Outlook and any other technological program required by Dr. Mitri

  • Asks good questions to identify glasses that might be a fit for each customer

  • Possesses the ability to multi-task, prioritize & manage time with competing priorities

  • Commits to delivery date & time, seeks feedback & asks for referrals

  • Self-motivator, able to work independently

  • Takes responsibility for the store’s cleanliness and appearance

  • Informs management of safety opportunities; demonstrates safe work practices

  • Maintains Inventory, orders additional glasses and lenses when needed, keeps track of trends and keeps

  • Dr. Mitri apprised when required

  • Checking in and checking out patients, completing pretesting

  • Booking appointments, completing recalls

  • Managing the direct billing process

  • Additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Optician verified and in good standing

  • Optical dispensing experience

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, flexible

  • Detail oriented

  • Understanding of glasses, lenses and overall knowledge of industry

  • Strong basic math skills

  • Able to use technology, using computers and software platforms

  • Quick learner, ability to adapt quickly

  • Able to sell effectively, without being “pushy”, educating customers

Responsibilities

  • Greet Patients in person, online and by telephone, book appointments

  • Manage appointment calendar, look after email inbox and check messages in a timely manner

  • Verify insurance coverage and process insurance claims, when required, follow up

  • Perform preliminary tests on patients

  • Maintain accurate and updated medical records

  • Support in education of patients with regards to contact lens insertion, removal and care

  • Help patients with frame styling

  • Manage and keep track of inventory of glasses and contact lenses, plans and orders in advance

  • Maintain a clean office environment, ensure items are organized and well maintained

  • Assist optometrist on site as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills, able to build trust and develop rapport with patients

  • Able to provide exceptional customer care, providing great service to support optometrist

  • Strong organizational skills, able to keep office clean, organized and well maintained

  • High technological competency, able to pick up quickly and update electronic medical records

  • Attention to detail, able to record data and maintain patient information confidential

  • Effectively multi-task, able to get work completed in a timely and efficient manner
